Koru Care Southland -- Gold Coast, Australia 2010 Photo Gallery
On 25 March 2010 Koru Care Southland took 13 Southland children on a trip to the Gold Coast for 7seven days.
The humid conditions meant the kids made the most of the swimming pool at our accommodation and the water rides at the theme parks. They were amazed at the temperature of the water at the beach, at least 26 degrees.
The dolphin show at Sea World was a favourite for the kids and for the more adventurous the new jet ski ride was a hit.
We spent two days at Dreamworld and had a large number of kids completing the ‘big six’ rides. The bumper cars provided a lot of laughs and surprisingly the Big Red Car was a favourite for a few. We experienced a torrential downpour on our last day at Dreamworld but luckily we were in the water park and were dressed for the occasion at the time.
Movieworld provided more thrills and the stunt show was amazing. It was a quieter day at this park and the kids were lucky to have more than one ride on most attractions. A couple of kids went on the Lethal Weapon ride three times in a row!
We returned home with 13 tired but very happy kids, many of whom were rapt to have been on their first ever trip out of New Zealand. Others commented on how “cool” it was to spend time with other kids who also face daily challenges.
